Sabeel
In development for Android and iOS

The day you live
is the game you play.

Prayer is not a lecture between levels. It is the mechanic.

A town that notices how you live in it: people to meet, work to do, and a masjid at the centre. Turning up, keeping your word and praying on time move something the game calls your Heart, and your Heart changes what the world opens up to you.

What it is

A 3D adventure where a day runs on its own clock, and how you spend it is the whole of the game.

The Heart, never a score

It is shown as a word, not a number, so nobody is farming points. It reads Heavy, Unsettled, Steady, Clear or Light, and it moves with what you actually do.

A day that does not wait

Prayer times arrive whether you are ready or not. Praying in congregation carries you further than praying alone, the way it does outside the game.

Made for a phone

Built for tablets and phones first, so it lands where children already play. The aim is a game they want to open, not one they are told to open.

For parents

Sabeel is still in development. Nothing is for sale yet.

It is built for children roughly seven to fourteen, the years when practice either becomes their own or becomes a chore. It teaches the shape of a Muslim day by making it the way you get anywhere in the game, rather than a message delivered between levels. The teaching is reviewed by a qualified scholar before release.

It is made by one family in South Florida, not a studio, and it is built with children of its own audience's age reading it over the shoulder.

What we ask

A parent makes the account. We ask the parent, not the child. Sabeel never asks a child for their real name, school, address or location.

What we cannot read

The private part of a child's game — their prayers, their journal, their Heart — is encrypted on the device. The key stays with the family. We store it, and we cannot open it.

Who they play with

Playing together is off until a parent turns it on, and then only with children that parent has approved. Children cannot type to each other: they choose from fixed phrases.

No advertising, no tracking

No advertising of any kind, no advertising identifier, and nothing that follows a child around. We do not sell or share information about anybody.

The world

Screens from the build in progress. The masjid came first, and everything else grew around it.
